INSTALLATION OF DRIVE PINION ASSEMBLY 58, the actual shapes of Kent-Moore tools may differ from those of special service tools illustrated here, measuring pinion bearing preload total, removing and installing propeller shaft lock.
Nut and drive pinion lock nut, drive pinion rear inner race puller set, removing and installing drive pinion rear inner cone, removing and installing differential side bearing inner cone.
Installing side bearing inner cone and removing and installing differential case couple, installing pinion rear bearing outer race, installing pinion front bearing outer race, gear carrier front oil seal drift.
Adjusting bearing pre-load gear height, nOISE, VIBRATION, AND HARSHNESS (NVH) TROUBLESHOOTING, use the chart below to help you find the cause of the symptom, loosen drive pinion nut while holding companion flange using.
Remove companion flange using suitable tool, remove ABS sensor and rear wheel sensor rotor, apply multi-purpose grease to cavity at sealing lips oil seal, press front oil seal into carrier using Tool.
Install ABS sensor and rear wheel sensor rotor, hold the companion flange using Tool tighten drive pinion, remove rear cover rear cover gasket, install new rear cover gasket rear cover.
Fill final drive with recommended gear oil, be careful not to damage spline, sleeve yoke and front oil seal when removing propeller shaft, before removing the final drive assembly or rear axle assembly, disconnect the ABS sensor harness connector from the assembly and move it away from the final drive/rear axle assembly area, q Plug front end transfer.
Installation is in the reverse order removal, fill final drive with recommended gear oil specified level, before disassembling final drive, perform following inspections, turn drive pinion in both directions several times set bearing rollers.
Check total preload with Tool number ST3127S000 (J25765-A), check backlash of ring gear with a dial indicator several points, check runout of ring gear with dial indicator, measure clearance between side gear thrust washer differential.
Put match marks on one side of side bearing cap with paint, punch to ensure that it is replaced in proper position during reassembly, q Bearing caps are line-bored during manufacture, should be put back their original places.
Remove differential case assembly with pry bar, keep the side bearing outer races together with their respective, inner cones — do not mix them up, remove pinion nut while holding companion flange using.
Remove ABS sensor sensor rotor, remove drive pinion with soft hammer, remove front oil seal and pinion front bearing inner cone.
