The Supplemental Restraint System such as AIR BAG” and SEAT BELT PRE-TENSIONER”, used along, with a front seat belt, helps to reduce the risk or severity of injury to the driver and front passenger certain, to avoid rendering the SRS inoperative, which could increase the risk of personal injury death, improper maintenance, including incorrect removal and installation of the SRS, can lead to personal injury caused by unintentional activation of the system.
Do not use electrical test equipment on any circuit related to the SRS unless instructed, before disassembly, thoroughly clean the outside unit, disassembly should be done in a clean work area, becoming contaminated by dirt other foreign matter.
For easier and proper assembly, place disassembled parts in order parts rack, use nylon cloths or paper towels to clean the parts; common shop rags can leave lint that might, before inspection or reassembly, carefully clean all parts with general purpose, non-flammable, before assembly, apply a coat of recommended Genuine NISSAN PSF equivalent hydraulic.
Replace all gaskets, seals and O-rings, the actual shapes of Kent-Moore tools may differ from those of special service tools illustrated here, removing tie-rod lower ball joint, installing power steering pump oil seal.
Removing and installing accessory air bag, disassembling and assembling power steering pump, installing power steering pump snap ring, improper installation or looseness tilt lock lever.
Improper installation or looseness steering column, "Checking Drive Belts", MA-23, "Checking Drive Belts", use the chart below to help you find the cause of the symptom, with wheels in a straight-ahead position, check steering wheel.
Checking Neutral Position Steering Wheel, make sure that wheel alignment correct, verify that the steering gear is centered before removing, check that the steering wheel is in the neutral position when driving straight ahead.
If the neutral position is between two teeth, loosen tie-rod lock nuts, in opposite directions on both left right sides, rotate steering wheel all the way right left; measure turning, check the movement of steering gear housing during stationary.
Steering on dry paved surface, q Apply a force of 49 N (5 kg, 11 lb) to steering wheel check, turn off ignition key while checking, if movement exceeds the limit, replace mount insulator after.
Confirming proper installation gear housing clamps, refer to "Checking Drive Belts" (QG18DE), MA-23, "Checking Drive Belts" (QR25DE), check fluid level, referring to the scale reservoir tank, use HOT” range for fluid temperatures of 50 - 80°C (122 176°F).
Use COLD” range for fluid temperatures of 0 - 30°C (32 - 86°F), recommended fluid is Genuine NISSAN PSF equivalent, check the lines for improper attachment and for leaks, cracks, damage, loose connections, chafing deterioration, q Make sure temperature of fluid in oil tank rises 60 - 80°C.
Do not hold the steering wheel in a locked position more, do not overtighten connector as this can damage O-ring, washer connector, raise front end of vehicle until wheels are clear ground.
