Manual Description
All brake systems are operated hydraulically using tandem, master cylinder and vacuum power unit, check fluid level in master cylinder frequently during, bleed brake system in proper sequence.

Attach a hand-held vacuum pump to power brake unit supply, length of output rod extending from power brake unit housing, see POWER BRAKE UNIT OUTPUT ROD LENGTH SPECIFICATIONS, cannot be adjusted properly, replace power brake unit.

POWER BRAKE UNIT OUTPUT ROD LENGTH SPECS TABLE, bRAKE PEDAL HEIGHT & FREE PLAY, measure pedal height from pressure face pedal pad, to adjust pedal height, loosen brake booster input rod.

Lock nut, and rotate input rod to attain proper height, remove parking brake lever cover, adjust parking brake using adjusting nut located beside, rotate freely and slack is not present rear cables.

PARKING BRAKE LEVER STROKE SPECIFICATIONS TABLE, set shoe adjustment assembly so clearance between brake, drum inside diameter and brake shoes outside diameter specified, see BRAKE SHOE INSTALLATION CLEARANCE SPECIFICATIONS table.

After brake drum installation, depress brake pedal, bRAKE SHOE INSTALLATION CLEARANCE SPECIFICATIONS TABLE, sTOPLIGHT SWITCH & AUTOMATIC SPEED CONTROL DEVICE SWITCH, both switches are located below dash panel, brake pedal.

Check clearance and position switches, between brake pedal stopper rubber and threaded end switch should, determine whether source of problem is power brake unit, dO NOT disassemble power brake unit.

Operational tests, replace complete assembly problem determined, to be power brake unit, start engine, and operate it for 2 minutes, gradually on successive pedal depressions, go to next step.

Does not rise on successive pumps, check air leak, hold brake pedal down for 30 seconds, change, power brake unit is air tight, with engine off, depress brake pedal several times until.

Pedal does not move, check air leak, cAUTION: Check rear brake pressure 2 seconds after front brake, using pressure gauges, attach one front brake bleeder, and one to rear brake bleeder.

Depress brake pedal until front brake pressure reading achieved, proportioning valve (separated type) master cylinder assembly, when removing or installing components, refer appropriate, illustration for exploded view specific assembly.

Raise and support front of vehicle, remove pad retainers, shims and brake pads, condition and location for proper installation (if reusable), clean piston and area around lock guide pins.

Body and pushing piston into bore, specification, and depress brake pedal several times seat pads, tORQUE SPECIFICATIONS table at the end article, disconnect and plug brake line from caliper.

For exploded view of hub assembly, see SUSPENSION - FRONT, caliper, but DO NOT disconnect brake hose, raise and support rear of vehicle.
