Manual Description
Operate the parking brake pedal with a force of 196 N (20 kg, 44 lb), : Refer to PB-11, "Parking Brake Control", when brake warning lamp turns ON, check that the pedal stroke is within the specified number notches, (Check it by listening to the clicks ratchet.

Check each component for installation condition such looseness, check the device assembly for bend, damage and cracks, check the cables for wear, damage and cracks, check the parking brake switch, and replace it if necessary.

To perform adjustment operations, remove rear tires with power tool, with a deep socket wrench loosening cable, remove the adjusting hole plug from the disc rotor, adjuster in the direction (A) as shown in figure using.

Suitable tool until the disc rotor locked, turn back the adjuster 7 notches locked position, rotate the disc rotor to check that there is no drag, adjust the cable with following procedure.

Operate the parking brake pedal with a force of 490 N (50 kg, adjust the parking brake pedal stroke by turning adjusting, nut with deep socket wrench, never reuse the adjusting nut if nut removed.

Rotate the disc rotor with the parking brake pedal released and check that there no drag, rotate the disc rotor and check any drag, refer to "Components" for symbols not described above, remove rear tires with power tool.

Disconnect parking brake switch harness connector, remove adjusting nut loosen front cable, remove the exhaust center tube and muffler assembly, separate front cable from rear cable, remove front cable.

Remove parking brake shoe, and remove rear cable from toggle lever, remove rear cable mounting bolts pull out rear cable vehicle, installation is the reverse order removal, adjust the parking brake lever stroke.

: Apply PBC (Poly Butyl Cuprysil) grease silicone-based grease, clean any dust from the parking brake shoes and brake plates with a vacuum dust collector, put matching marks on the disc rotor and the wheel hub and bearing assembly when reusing, the parking brake shoes for the front side are made of different materials from those for the rear side.

Note the following, and install in the reverse order removal, apply PBC (Poly Butyl Cuprysil) grease or silicone-based grease to the back plate brake shoe, the parking brake shoes for the front side are made of different materials from those rear PB, assemble adjusters so that threaded part is expanded when rotating it in the direction shown by arrow.

Shorten adjuster by rotating it, when disassembling, apply PBC (Poly Butyl Cuprysil) grease, check parking brake shoe sliding surface drum inner surface, check thickness (A) brake lining.

Check inner diameter (B) drum, check brake lining for excessive wear, damage, and peeling, check parking brake shoe sliding surface for excessive wear and damage, check anti-rattle pin for excessive wear, damage and rust.

Check spring and return springs for settling, excessive wear, damage, and rust, check brake strut for excessive wear, damage and rust, check toggle lever for excessive wear, damage and rust, visually check inside of the drum for excessive wear, cracks, and damage with a pair vernier calipers.

Adjust the parking brake pedal stroke, perform break-in operation as follows after replacing parking brake shoe and/or disc rotor, or brakes do not, to prevent lining from getting too hot, allow a cool off period of approximately 5 minutes after.
