Manual Description
(SRS) "AIR BAG" and "SEAT BELT PRE-TENSIONER" 2, service Notice or Precautions Steering System, precautions for Removing Battery Terminal 3, precaution for Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) "AIR BAG" "SEAT BELT.

The Supplemental Restraint System such as AIR BAG” and SEAT BELT PRE-TENSIONER”, used along, with a front seat belt, helps to reduce the risk or severity of injury to the driver and front passenger certain, system uses the seat belt switches to determine the front air bag deployment, and may only deploy one front, air bag, depending on the severity of a collision and whether the front occupants belted unbelted.

Information necessary to service the system safely is included in the SRS AIR BAG” and SEAT BELT”, always observe the following items preventing accidental activation, to avoid rendering the SRS inoperative, which could increase the risk of personal injury death, the event of a collision that would result in air bag inflation, all maintenance must be performed by.

Improper maintenance, including incorrect removal and installation of the SRS, can lead personal, injury caused by unintentional activation of the system, never use electrical test equipment on any circuit related to the SRS unless instructed to in this Service Manual, pRECAUTIONS WHEN USING POWER TOOLS (AIR OR ELECTRIC) AND HAMMERS.

When working near the Air Bag Diagnosis Sensor Unit or other Air Bag System sensors with, ignition ON or engine running, never use air or electric power tools or strike near sensor(s) with, when using air or electric power tools or hammers, always switch the ignition OFF, disconnect, battery, and wait at least 3 minutes before performing any service.

In case of removing steering gear assembly, make the final tightening with grounded unloaded vehicle, condition, and then check wheel alignment, observe the following precautions when disassembling, - Before disassembly, thoroughly clean the outside unit.

- Disassembly should be done in a clean work area, contaminated by dirt other foreign matter, - For easier and proper assembly, place disassembled parts in order parts rack, - Use nylon cloth or paper towels to clean the parts; common shop rags can leave lint that might interfere with.

- Before assembling, apply the specified grease directed parts, when removing the 12V battery terminal, turn OFF ignition, switch and wait least 30 seconds, stops, then a DTC detection error or ECU data corruption may.

For vehicles with the 2-batteries, be sure to connect the main battery and the sub battery before turning ON ignition switch, if the ignition switch is turned ON with any one terminals, main battery and sub battery disconnected, then DTC may be, after installing the 12V battery, always check "Self Diagnosis Result" of all ECUs erase DTC.

The removal of 12V battery may cause DTC detection error, the actual shapes of Kent-Moore tools may differ from those of special service tools illustrated here, check that steering gear assembly, steering column assembly and steering wheel are installed correct position, loosen outer socket lock nut and turn inner socket to left and right equally to make fine adjustments.

Steering wheel is not neutral position, if the adjustment is performed by using the inner socket, check wheel alignment after the adjustment, park the vehicle on a level and dry surface, set parking brake, tires need to be inflated to the specified pressure.

Check that the reading is within following specified range, using the preload gauge (A) [SST: ST3127S000 (J-25765-A)], to check, oil temperature must be room temperature [recommended oil temperature: approximately 20°C (68°F)], if steering wheel turning torque is out specification, check.

Rack sliding force and relief hydraulic pressure oil pump, regarding relief hydraulic pressure of oil pump, refer ST-33, disconnect lower joint from steering gear assembly, disconnect steering outer socket from steering knuckle.

Run the engine at idle and adjust the reservoir tank oil temperature room temperature [recommended, while pulling outer socket slowly in ±11, from neutral position, make sure rack sliding force within.
