Manual DescriptionFRONT WHEEL HUB AND KNUCKLE 5, removal and Installation (Left Side) 7, removal and Installation (Right Side) 8, disassembly and Assembly (Left Side) 10.
Disassembly and Assembly (Right Side) 16, sERVICE DATA AND SPECIFICATIONS (SDS) 22, observe the following precautions when disassembling servicing drive shaft, perform work in a location which is dust-free possible.
Before disassembling and servicing, clean outside parts, prevention of the entry of foreign objects must be taken into account during disassembly service, disassembled parts must be carefully reassembled in the correct order, cover must be placed over parts.
Paper shop cloths must be used, disassembled parts (except for rubber parts) should be cleaned with kerosene which shall be removed by, blowing with air or wiping with paper shop cloths, the actual shapes of Kent-Moore tools may differ from those of special service tools illustrated here.
NOISE, VIBRATION AND HARSHNESS (NVH) TROUBLESHOOTING, refer to FRONT AXLE chart, refer to DRIVE SHAFT chart, use chart below to help you find the cause of the symptom.
FRONT WHEEL HUB AND KNUCKLE, make sure the mounting conditions (looseness, back lash) of each component component status (wear, move wheel hub in the axial direction by hand, rotate wheel hub and make sure there is no unusual noise or other irregular conditions.
Irregular conditions, replace wheel hub bearing assembly, remove tire from vehicle with power tool, remove brake caliper with power tool, avoid depressing brake pedal while brake caliper removed.
Put alignment marks on disc rotor and wheel hub bearing, remove wheel sensor from steering knuckle, do not pull wheel sensor harness, remove cotter pin, then remove lock nut drive shaft.
Remove steering outer socket and cotter pin steering knuckle, use a ball joint remover (SST) to remove steering outer socket, to prevent damage to threads and prevent ball joint, remover (SST) from coming off suddenly, temporarily.
Using a puller (suitable tool), remove wheel hub and bearing assembly drive shaft, q When removing wheel hub and bearing assembly, do not apply an excessive angle drive shaft joint, also be careful not to excessively extend slide joint, q Do not hang over drive shaft with out support.
Remove wheel hub and bearing assembly fixing bolt, remove splash guard and wheel hub and bearing assembly steering knuckle, remove strut assembly and steering knuckle fixing bolts nuts, remove transverse link and steering knuckle fixing bolt nut.
Check for deformity, cracks and damage on each parts, replace necessary, check for boot breakage, axial looseness, and torque of transverse link ball joint, be sure to replace the new differential side oil seal every removal of drive shaft, refer to "Removal and Installation" for tightening torque.
Refer to component parts location and do not reuse non-reusable parts, to assemble disc rotor and wheel hub bearing assembly, (When not using the alignment mark, refer BR-31, "DISC, remove strut assembly and steering knuckle fixing bolt and nut.
Using a puller (suitable tool), remove drive shaft steering, when removing drive shaft, do not apply an excessive, q Set an drive shaft attachment (SST) and drive shaft puller.
