Manual Description
FRONT PASSENGER AIR BAG MODULE 11, (SRS) "AIR BAG" and "SEAT BELT PRE-TENSIONER" 2, precaution Necessary for Steering Wheel Rotation after Battery Disconnect 2, sIDE CURTAIN AIR BAG MODULE 13.
SIDE AIR BAG (SATELLITE) SENSOR 17, precaution for Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) "AIR BAG" "SEAT BELT, the Supplemental Restraint System such as AIR BAG” and SEAT BELT PRE-TENSIONER”, used along, with a front seat belt, helps to reduce the risk or severity of injury to the driver and front passenger certain.
System uses the seat belt switches to determine the front air bag deployment, and may only deploy one front, air bag, depending on the severity of a collision and whether the front occupants belted unbelted, information necessary to service the system safely is included in the SRS AIR BAG” and SEAT BELT”, to avoid rendering the SRS inoperative, which could increase the risk of personal injury death.
The event of a collision which would result in air bag inflation, all maintenance must be performed by, improper maintenance, including incorrect removal and installation of the SRS, can lead personal, injury caused by unintentional activation of the system, module, see SRS AIR BAG”.
PRECAUTIONS WHEN USING POWER TOOLS (AIR OR ELECTRIC) AND HAMMERS, when working near the Air Bag Diagnosis Sensor Unit or other Air Bag System sensors with, ignition ON or engine running, DO NOT use air or electric power tools or strike near sensor(s), when using air or electric power tools or hammers, always switch the ignition OFF, disconnect.
Battery, and wait at least 3 minutes before performing any service, precaution Necessary for Steering Wheel Rotation after Battery Disconnect, before removing and installing any control units, first turn the push-button ignition switch to the LOCK position, then disconnect both battery cables, after finishing work, confirm that all control unit connectors are connected properly, then re-connect both.
Always use CONSULT-III to perform self-diagnosis as a part of each function inspection after finishing work, this vehicle is equipped with a push-button ignition switch and steering lock unit, if the battery is disconnected or discharged, the steering wheel will lock cannot be turned, if turning the steering wheel is required with the battery disconnected or discharged, follow procedure.
Below before starting repair operation, supply power using jumper cables battery discharged, turn the push-button ignition switch ACC position, (At this time, the steering lock will be released.
The push-button ignition switch from ACC position to ON position, then to LOCK position, wheel will lock when the push-button ignition switch is turned LOCK position, replace occupant classification system control unit and passenger front seat cushion an assembly, never use electrical test equipment to check SRS circuits unless instructed to Service Manual.
Before servicing the SRS, turn ignition switch OFF, disconnect both battery cables and wait least 3 minutes, for approximately minutes after the cables are removed, it is still possible for the air bag and seat belt pre- E, diagnosis sensor unit must always be installed with their arrow marks ⇐” pointing towards front, the spiral cable must be aligned in the neutral position since its rotations are limited.
Wheel and column after removal steering gear, handle air bag module carefully, facing upward and seat mounted front side air bag module standing with the stud bolt side facing down, conduct self-diagnosis to check entire SRS for proper functioning after replacing any components.
After air bag inflates, the front instrument panel assembly should be replaced damaged, always replace instrument panel pad following front passenger air bag deployment, removes tool of driver air bag module and/or, removes clips, pawls metal clips.
Refer to "Components" for symbols figure, before servicing, turn ignition switch OFF, disconnect battery negative terminal wait 3 minutes, always work from the side of air bag module, remove the driver air bag module mounting TORX bolt (LH/RH).
For installing/removing the driver air bag module harness, connector, insert thin screwdriver wrapped tape into, notch, lift lock remove connector.
